Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at Alaska on a cloudless day.
This is a rare accomplishment for the 49th state, as Alaska’s south coast is known as one of the cloudiest places in the United States.
Visible in the image is the Bering Strait to the far left, the Yukon River in the center-right, and the Gulf of Alaska at the bottom.
This image was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra satellite.
