Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory features a view of the widespread flooding across rivers in the southern and central United States as a result of an unusually wet spring. On May 29, river gauges at 404 locations were above flood stage.

The worst of the flooding is now taking place in the Arkansas River, where flooding is predicted in every major community along the river in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas.

This false-color image was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on May 27, 2019.
