Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at Salalah, Oman from space.

Salalah is the second largest city in Oman with a population of 197,000. Although most of the region is very hot and dry, Salalah is located along the Arabian Sea where the seasonal monsoon allows for farms to grow coconuts and bananas.

This image was captured by the Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER).
