Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at the Sanetti Plateau in Ethiopia.

The plateau is part of the Bale range in Africa, where tens of millions of years ago, outpourings of lava created mountains on top of mountains.

Much of the Sanetti Plateau, which stretches thousands of miles, sits at least 10,000 feet above sea level.

This image was captured by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on board the Landsat 8 satellite.
