Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at Santa Catalina Island off the coast of California.

Catalina, as it is known to locals, is located just southwest of the Los Angeles coast, and measures roughly 22 miles in length and 8 miles at its widest point.

This image was captured by the Advanced Land Imager (ALI) on board the EO-1 satellite.
