Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look the Savage Islands in the Atlantic Ocean.

The Savage Islands are a small archipelago located in the eastern North Atlantic Ocean 175 miles south of the Madeira archipelago and 105 miles north of the Canary Islands.

In 1971, the islands were designated as a natural reserve, as they are an important nesting place for several species of birds.

This image was captured by an astronaut on board the International Space Station.
