Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at the Scottish Highlands on a rare clear day.

These rugged mountains contain some of the oldest rocks in Europe, which were rearranged by tectonic movement millions of years ago.

This image was captured by an astronaut on board the International Space Station. Also visible are the North Sea, Loch Ness, and Glen Mor.
