Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at sediment in the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Louisiana.

Severe rainstorms in the central United States kicked up sediment in the Mississippi River, and weeks later, it made its way south flowing into the gulf.

This image was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board the Terra satellite.
