Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory shows a massive storm centered over Kansas on March 13, 2019.

The Central and Northern Plains were hit hard with blizzard conditions, while the South suffered through thunderstorms and flooding.

When the atmospheric pressure hit record lows in some places, the wind picked up speeds that were equivalent to a category 1 hurricane.

The image is a mosaic of photos captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA’s Terra and Aqua satellites.
