Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at ship tracks off the Pacific coast of North America.

The tracks are created by tiny airborne particles called aerosols found in ship exhaust, which create clouds once water vapor condenses onto them.

This image was captured by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board the Aqua satellite.
