Today’s Image of the Day comes courtesy of the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at a thick layer of smoke and fog blanketing northern India.

This image was captured on November 7, 2017 by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) onboard NASA’s Aqua satellite.

Nearby crop fires in Punjab and Haryana have been burning since mid-October, blowing smoke into the air that has mixed with seasonal fog and industrial pollution.
