Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at snowbird communities in Florida.

Each year, over one million people from the northern United States and Canada head south to avoid the cold weather, increasing Florida’s population by as much as 5 percent.

They land in communities like this one, Barefoot Bay, which offers affordable residences and golfing opportunities.

This image was captured by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on board the Landsat 8 satellite.
