ESA reveals a striking image of NGC 2985 • Earth.com

Today’s Image of the Day from the European Space Agency features s striking view of NGC 2985, a spiral galaxy located in the constellation Ursa Major. 

Located at a distance of about 70 million light years from Earth, the galaxy is incredibly complex with nearly perfect symmetry. 

Over time, spiral galaxies have a tendency to run into other galaxies, which can smooth and round out their shape
