Today’s Image of the Day from the European Space Agency shows Super Typhoon Trami from the International Space Station.

When astronaut Alexander Gerst captured this image of Trami on September 25, 2018, the typhoon was the equivalent of a Category 5 hurricane.

The storm will blast the Ryukyu Islands with dangerous wind and rain before hitting mainland Japan on Sunday.

Trami currently has the force of a Category 3 hurricane, and is expected to maintain this intensity throughout the weekend.
