Summer sea ice changes in Siberia •

Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory features the frozen Laptev Sea just west of Kotelny Island.

In northern Siberia, the appearance of sea ice can change on a daily basis among the Anzhu Islands. Currents, winds, and seasonal freezing cycles are all factors that have an impact.

This image was captured on June 8, 2016 by the Operational Land Imager on Landsat 8.
