Today’s Image of the Day from NASA features an ultraviolet image of the Cygnus Loop nebula, which is about 1,500 light-years from the Earth in the constellation Cygnus.

The hot dust and gas of the large supernova remnant (SNR) cover a region in the sky that is six times the diameter of the full Moon.

This image was captured by the NASA Galaxy Evolution Explorer.
