The island of Sulawesi outlined by sunglint •

Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory features the northern peninsula of the Indonesian island of Sulawesi highlighted by morning sunglint.

The area of the globe containing Indonesia is known for being cloudy. In the foreground of this photo, clouds cast long shadows as the Sun’s rays strike at a low angle.

This image was captured by an astronaut onboard the International Space Station as it crossed over the equator just after sunrise.
