The Iberian Peninsula sizzled under a heat wave in June and July, 2015. The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer captured this true-color image of the region on July 13.

The clear skies give a strikingly crisp view of Portugal, Spain and Andorra. The Meseta Central, a broad mountainous plateau at the center of the Iberian Peninsula appears tan and is streaked with the green of summer vegetation. The lowlands to the west and north receive more rain than the Meseta Central, and appear green.
