Today’s Image of the Day from the European Space Agency features a satellite view of what remains of the Aral Sea.

This lake, which has now shrunk into smaller water bodies, was once one of the four largest lakes in the world.

The Aral Sea was a land-locked lake between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.

This image was captured by the ESA’s miniature satellite, Proba-V, on June 15, 2018.
