Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory features two of the Samoan Islands as they appeared from space on May 13, 2018.

This photograph of the islands glistening in the sunlight was captured by the International Space Station as it passed over the South Pacific Ocean.

The volcanic islands, Savai’i and Upolu, both have highly-elevated, dense tropical forests with lower-elevated coastal regions.
