Tropical storm system hovers over southern Texas •

Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory features the low-pressure system that has been dumping torrential rains in southern Texas for days.

By Thursday, over 20 inches of rainfall had been recorded in the Corpus Christi region and six counties had declared a state of emergency due to flash flooding.
