Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory shows a  phytoplankton bloom that emerged along the Pilbara coast in Western Australia after tropical cyclone Veronica.

The storm dumped more than 18 inches of rain in less than 72 hours, causing major flooding across the region.

This image was captured offshore from Port Hedland on March 29, 2019 by the Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite (VIIRS) instrument on the Suomi NPP satellite.
