Unusually heavy snowfall in Italy • Earth.com

Today’s Image of the Day comes from the European Space Agency (ESA) and features a look at Italy with unusually high amounts of snow on the ground.

This past week, much of Europe has been gripped with freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall. Even though Italy usually enjoys a more mild winter, in the last week temperatures in Rome dipped down to -5 degrees Celsius at night.
