Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory shows the only remaining glacier in Venezuela, the Humboldt Glacier.

Compared to 1910, less than one percent of the glaciated area of northwestern Venezuela remains today. The Humboldt Glacier is located in the highest part of the Andes Mountains – the Sierra Nevada de Mérida.

This image was captured by The Operational Land Imager (OLI) on Landsat 8 on January 6, 2015.
