Today’s Image of the Day comes courtesy of the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at Wake Island in the Pacific Ocean.

Wake Island is located 2,500 miles to the west-southwest of Hawaii and 1,500 miles northwest of Guam. The island was annexed by the United States in 1899.

This image was captured by an astronaut on board the International Space Station.
