Today’s Image of the Day comes courtesy of the European Space Agency (ESA) and features a look at Washington, D.C. from space.

The long green line in the center of the image is the National Mall, with the Capitol Building to the east, the Lincoln Memorial to the west, and the White House to the north.

The sprawling dark green area in the upper right of the image is the Patuxent Research Refuge in Maryland.

This image was captured by the Copernicus Sentinel-2 satellite.
