Today’s Image of the Day comes from the NASA Earth Observatory and features a panoramic view of the west coast of the United States.

The bottom half of the photo is filled with stratocumulus clouds that form in the marine layer of the atmosphere between an altitude of 1000 to 2000 feet above the ocean.

This image was captured on May 13, 2018 by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on board the Terra satellite.
