Today’s Image of the Day comes thanks to the NASA Earth Observatory and features a look at wildfires in the Pacific northwest pushing smoke across the United States.

According to the National Interagency Fire Center (NIFC), more than 80 large fires have burned across 9 U.S. states in the past week. Most of these fires have been located in the pacific Northwest, including Washington, Oregon, and northern California.

NIFC has also reported that as of September, 7.8 millions acres of land have burned in wildfires this year.
