Today’s Image of the Day from NASA Earth Observatory features yellow fields of canola flowers that appear throughout the valleys of Luoping County in southern China each February.

The brilliant flowers draws tens of thousands of visitors to the remote area each year for hiking and flower festivals.

China is one of the biggest producers and importers of canola, which is primarily used for cooking oil and canola meal.

A subtle boundary between the bright yellow fields and the surrounding dark green forested hills is visible in this image, which was captured by Landsat 8 on February 19, 2017.
