Ruellia patula is a perennial groundcover that produces annual, spreading shoots, from a woody rootstock. It is not an aggressive grower and makes a beautiful display as a groundcover. The white, mauve or purple flowers are quite showy and it makes a lovely groundcover. Ruellia patula prefers a sunny spot but will be equally happy in semi-shade. The spread is not very extensive, so plant it close together.
