The elegant Ruellie, Ruellia elegans is a species of herbaceous flowering plants of the genus Ruellia the family of Acanthaceae . It is a species native to Brazil. His description in Latin was published by botanist Jean-Louis Marie Poiret for the first time in 1816 in supplement 4 on page 727 of the Encyclopédie méthodique Botanique : Ruellia (formosa) foliis petiolatis, integerrimis, ovatis; utrinque pubescentibus; pedunculis axillaribus, alternis, longissimis, paucifloris; corollis subringentibus .
