Arroyo Fameflower

Description

Talinopsis frutescens grows as a little branched smoke and reaches heights of up to 60 cm. The woody shoots spring from fleshy, pearl-like roots . The foliage leaves are arranged in the form of a figurine or an arbor. Its round, pointed, soft and fleshy leaf blade is up to 30 millimeters long and 2 millimeters wide. The leaf axes are only slightly hairy. The slightly branched, terminal, zymous inflorescence carries up to five flowers . Their ovoid to elliptical sepals are membrane-like. They are 8 millimeters long and 5 millimeters wide. The approximately 10 mm long and 4 to 5 mm wide, crimson to pale pink petals are ovoid to obovate. There are 20 to 25 stamens present. The capsule fruits reach a length of 10 to 15 millimeters. They have six exocarp valves and a three-lobed endocarp , which breaks up in the upper half. The pale-brownish, comma-like and hooked, grainy to warty seeds contained in them are not winged. They are 1.5 millimeters wide.
