Description

Oenanthe silaifolia is a species of the family of the Apiaceae. It differs from Oenanthe pimpinelloides in the lobes of the basal leaves, linear-lanceolate, hollow stem and root tubers near the stem. This umbelifera is high, between 30-80 cm, little branched, although it can have several stems from the thick root. Up to 5 umbels on each stem , with about 20 primary radii, without bracts , secondary umbels with bracteolas . The white flower , 3 mm in diameter, with 5 rounded petals , deeply indented, forming an outgoing gorget, 5 stamens and 2 styles. Fruit with shallow ribs, not strangled, rounded at the top, narrowing towards the base. Leaves superiors with 2-3 segments, lacinias , or once pinnately, the basal twice pinnate, with long petiole, the narrow segments and pointed, a little grooved, hugging in a long way, they separate soon. Center, west and south of Europe. It lives in humid places. Oenanthe silaifolia was described by Friedrich August Marschall von Bieberstein and published in Fl. Taur.-Caucas. [1819 Dec or early 1820] Oenanthe : generic name that derives from Greek oinos = "wine", for a plant with a wine smell, and the ancient Greek name for some thorny plant.
