Description

Ptilimnium is a group of plants of the family Apiaceae described as a genus in 1819. The common name is mock bishopwee or mock bishop's weed. It is endemic to the United States, primarily in the Southeast, the Lower Mississippi Valley, and the Lower Great Plains. The genus was described by Constantine Samuel Rafinesque and published in Neogenyton 2. 1825. 2 The type species is: Ptilimnium capillaceum (Michx.) Raf. ex Ser.
