Description

Hoya bordenii is a species of the genus of wax flowers ( Hoya ) from the subfamily of the seedweed family (Asclepiadoideae). The distribution of the species is limited to the Philippine island of Luzon. Hoya bordenii has spiraling and sparsely leafy shoots. The shoots are thread-like and bald. The leaves have 1.5 to 2 cm long fleshy stems. The leathery, bare leaf blades are oblong-lanceolate to narrow-elliptic, and pointed at the outer end. They are 11 to 18 cm long and 2.5 to 4.5 cm wide. The surfaces are dark green and dull glossy. Under intense sunlight, they can become reddish-orange. Clearly prominent is the Blattäderung. The inflorescence consists of 6 to 15 [1] (up to 20 ) loosely arranged, hanging flowers. He has a diameter of up to 12 cm. The stem of the inflorescence is 3 to 5 cm long, round in cross-section and bare. The flowers are spread in a star shape and have a diameter of about 1 cm. The filamentous, bald pedicels are up to 2.7 cm long. The sepalsare ovate, 1.5 mm long and blunt ending. They are fluffy hairy at the base. The corolla is light red to dark red in color, with egg-shaped, pointed leaking and strongly bent back crown lobes. The staminal Nebenkronzipfel are narrow elliptical and pointed. They are flat and have an elongated back in the middle. The color varies from dark red to yellow. The extension of the stamens has a narrow crescent shape. The pollinia are cylindrical and oblong. The translator is relatively short, the tiny corpuscum rhombic shaped. The flowers do not smell or only very little. They are open only a few days.
