Description

Hoya shepherdii is a species of the genus of wax flowers ( Hoya ) from the subfamily of the plant plants (Asclepiadoideae). Hoya shepherdii is a perennial herbaceous plant that grows epiphytically and climbing on rocks. The stem axles with a diameter of 2 millimeters are up to 1 meter long. The opposite or individually standing leaves are divided into petiole and leaf blade. The short petiole is round in cross-section and bent downwards. The leaf blade therefore hangs down. The fleshy to leathery, slightly succulent leaf blades are dark green in color with a smooth, shiny surface, with the underside being slightly paler than the top. The leaf blade is at a length of about 15 centimeters and a width of about 1 centimeter (11 centimeters long, 2 centimeters wide ) linear-lanceolate with long tapered at the upper end. In cross-section, the leaf blade is V-shaped and the top is rinned. The leaf novelty is not visible. The first description of Hoya shepherdii was made in 1861 by William Jackson Hooker in the 87th volume of Curtis Botanical Magazine on plate 5269 (with text). Hoya shepherdii became hook due to the leaf shape . also synonymous with Hoya longifolia Wall. conceived ex Wight.
