Description

Saruma is a monotypic botanical genus of flowering plants belonging to the family Aristolochiaceae. The only species: Saruma henryi Oliv. It is native to Asia. It has robust rhizomes, 5 mm in diameter. Tarmos 0.5-1 m tall, pubescent, grey-brown. Petiolu 3-12 cm, pubescent; Cordate bellows 6-15 × 5-13 cm, both surfaces pubescent, base cordate, apex shortly acuminate. Pedicel 2-3.5 cm, pubescent. Speck with lobes of. 10×7mm. Petals mariellu or mariellu greenish, cordate-reniform, claws, 10 × 8 mm. The fruit, 6-8 × 4-6 mm. Granules deltoid-obconic 3 mm, transversely rough. Fl. April-Junetu. We find many mountains, valleys, stream banks, at an altitude of 600-1000 meters in Gansu, Guizhou, Hubei, Jiangxi, Shaanxi and Sichuan. This species is used for medicinal purposes. Saruma henryi was described by Daniel Oliver (botanist) and published in Hooker's Icones Plantarum 19(4): pl. 1895. 1889.
