Description

leistocactus baumannii is a species of the Cactaceae family, endemic to Argentina, Bolivia, Uruguay and Paraguay, common in localized places. Columnar cactus very branched from the base, with thin stems (3 cm) that can reach 120 cm in height. It has 14 ribs close together, with 1 central spine of about 2.5 cm and 15 to 20 radial. The flowers, red, yellow or orange, are tubular about 6 to 7.5 cm long and the same as most species of the genus barely open, showing only the style and stamens. They are born along the stem, in summer. It produces edible pink fruits
