Description

It is a cylindrical fleshy perennial plant armed with thorns, and with red flowers. Echinocereus enneacanthusForm low cushions with 30 to 200 units. The stems are light green, cylindrical and with the exception of the tips of the prostrate stems up to 2 meters long and has a diameter of 3.5 to 15 centimeters. It has seven to ten ribs. The ridges of central thorns are yellowish to brown or blue. They have a length of up to 8 cm. The 6 to 13 radial spines, whitish to brown are up to 4 cm long. The funnel-shaped flowers are magenta, and have a darker throat. They appear below the tips of the buds and are up to 8 cm long and can reach a diameter of 8 to 12 cm. The fruit is round or oval and contains a pink flesh with strawberry flavor.
