Description

Echinocereus sciurus grows like a perennial, continually sprouting, forming up to 60 centimeters. The slender individual shoots are often up to 20 cm long and are almost hidden by the richly present thorns . The 12 to 17 ribs are low, divided into a number of 5 to 6 millimeters from each remote warts . The narrow 15 to 18 marginal mandibles, which are provided with small areoles and arranged in a circular arrangement, are pale with brownish tips. Usually several central mandibles are shorter than the edge mandrels and are provided with a brown sloping spine. The funnel- shaped flowers are light purple to more or less deep. They are up to 7 inches long and reach a diameter of 9 inches. They have numerous stamens with green stamens and a green-colored scar .
