Description

Mammillaria coahuilensis is a species belonging to the Cactaceae family. She is originally from Mexico. It is a fleshy and globose perennial plant that grows solitary, with a flattened, globular, green-blue stem that reaches up to 5 cm in height and diameter. The areolas are triangular in section and latex free. The spines are finely hairy. An erect, needle-like central spine up to 0.6 cm long, tipped brown. The approximately 16 radial spines are slender, bristle-like, white with dark tips, 0.6 centimeters. The flowers are white with a pink stripe, more or less pronounced. They grow up to 2 to 3 centimeters in diameter. The red fruits are rod-shaped and contain the seeds. Mammillaria coahuilensis was described by ( Boed. ) Moran and published in Gentes Herbarum; occasional papers on the kind of plants 8: 324, in the year 1953.
