Description

Mammillaria heyderi grows individually. The depressed, spherical, green shoots grow up to 5 inches high and 8 to 12 inches in diameter. The elongated pyramidal or conical warts do not contain any milk juice . The axillae are first filled with wool, later they are balding. The 1 to 2 middle spines , sometimes missing, are spangled, dark horny. They are 0.3 to 1 inches long. The 6 to 22 bristle-like marginal spines are white. They are 0.6 to 0.8 inches long. The flowers are colored very differently. They can be cream to pink or white. The fruits are red. They contain reddish brown seeds.
