(Parodia langsdorffii)
Parodia langsdorfii is a species of plant in the genus Parodia in the cactus family (Cactaceae). The specific epithet langsdorfii honors the German explorer Georg Heinrich von Langsdorff. Parodia langsdorfii grows singly or in groups. The gray-green spherical to cylindrical shoots reach heights of up to 10 centimeters (and more) and a diameter of 4 to 9 centimeters. The shoot apex is densely woolly. The 13 to 17 blunt ribs are clearly humped. The one to four brownish central spines are straight and have a length of up to 2.5 centimeters. The six to nine unequal, somewhat spread radial spines are brown and 1.2 to 2 inches long. The yellow flowers reach lengths of up to 2.5 centimeters and the same diameter. The scars are red. The pale green, barrel-shaped fruits are covered in white wool and never turn red. They have a diameter of 3 to 4 millimeters and are up to 7 millimeters long. The fruits contain bell-shaped, dull black seeds that are finely tuberculate.
