Description

Parodia muricata is a species of plant in the genus Parodia in the cactus family (Cactaceae). The specific epithet muricata is derived from the Latin word muricate and refers to the central spines of the species. Parodia muricata grows singly or sprouts profusely. The gleaming green, spherical to columnar shoots reach a diameter of up to 20 centimeters. The shoot apex is often sunken. The 16 to 20 wavy ribs are blunt. The three to four brownish central spines have a length of up to 1.8 centimeters. The 15 to 20 (rarely from 10) hair-like radial spines are white and up to 0.8 centimeters long. The yellow flowers reach a length of up to 3 centimeters and a diameter of 4.5 centimeters. Your pericarpel and the flower tube are covered with wool and bristles. The scars are dark red. The barrel -shaped fruits are olive green when ripe and have lengths of up to 1 centimeter (rarely up to 3 centimeters).
