Description

Sulcorebutia arenacea is a flowering plant belonging to the Cactaceae family. The species Rebutia arenacea has been moved to Sulcorebutia arenacea. It is endemic to Cochabamba in Bolivia. It is a common species that has spread throughout the world. Sulcorebutia arenacea grows singly and rarely in groups with spherical or flat stems that reach a diameter of 2.5 to 5 centimeters (rarely 13 centimeters) and up to 2 to 3.5 centimeters (rarely 10 centimeters) in height and have up to 10 centimeters long roots. The 30 ribs are strongly tuberculate. The areolas are wide and creamy gray. The 14 to 16 spines are rough and whitish-yellow to brown, 0.4 to 2 centimeters long. The central spine is absent. The flowers are golden to orange-yellow, up to 5 centimeters long and 4 centimeters in diameter. The reddish-brown fruits have a diameter of 06 to 08 mm.
