Tephrocactus alexanderi. It was first described by Nathaniel Lord Britton and Joseph Nelson Rose, and given the exact name of Curt Backeberg. Tephrocactus alexanderi belongs to the genus Tephrocactus, and family Cactaceae. Tephrocactus (from Greek tephra, "ash", referring to the color of these plants' epidermis) is a genus of the cactus family (Cactaceae).
