Maui Cyanea

(Cyanea comata)

galery

Description

Cyanea comata was a branched shrub that reached maximum heights of 1.6 to 2.6 meters. The 15 to 30 centimeters long foliage leaves were traffic-trunked to traffic-obverse. The inflorescence was hanging and up to one meter long. Each inflorescence consisted of six to twelve strongly curved light violet flowers of 55 millimeters in length. Because of its flower form, bird species such as the Iiwi , the Krausschw-nze or the Nukupu'u could have been possible pollinators.
