Description

Centranthus lecoqii, common name Centranthus de Lecoq, is a species of flowering plant in the family Caprifoliaceaeand genus Centranthus, endemic to the western Mediterranean. It was described by Alexis Jordan in 1852, and named after Henri Lecoq. The plant measures from 30 cm to one meter. The stems are glabrous and glaucous. The lanceolate leaves are traversed by parallel veins. The flowers, 8 to 10 mm in diameter, are pink, and form rounded inflorescences. The spur is approximately equal to the ovary. Flowering occurs from May to July. It is a species appearing morphologically intermediate betweenCentranthus angustifolius (it has been classified by some authors as asubspeciesgold hasvarietyof this species) andCentranthus ruber. It is distinguished from the former by wider leaves and shorter internodes, and from the latter by narrower leaves and lighter flowers.
