Description

Scabiosa canescens is a plant in the honeysuckle family . It is a perennial herb that can grow up to 40 cm high. The stem has opposite leaves and is formed, branched and the hair. The lower leaves are lantern-shaped and the upper feather flaps. The violet, fragrant flowers are in flat, basket-like flower stands where the outer flowers are twice as large as those in the middle. The species grows in places with sand or grass on calcareous soil. It is prevalent in Central Europe from Belgium and France in the west, north to Denmark and Skåne in Sweden , and south to Hungary and former Yugoslavia .
