Description

Small cushion-forming, up to 5cm across and l-3cm high. Leaves linear, 3-6mm long, the dead ones persisting at the base. Flowers solitary or in pairs just above the leaf tips, up to 8mm across with five white petals longer than the purple-edged sepals, summer. Norway, Sweden, Iceland, Jan Mayen, in gravelly places, to 1670m in Norway. Rare in wild and not easy to grow.
